For the past two weeks, Preston and I have been wading into unchartered territory. We are a little scared, a little edgy and a little out of our league. So the reason for all of it, and the reason I found myself in the 'Cleaning Products' isle at Kroger the other night, is... wait for it... we no longer employ a cleaning lady. That's right! We are cleaning up after ourselves, washing our own laundry and all the things that most everyone else our age does themselves.
Of course, it is a learning experience, but it always has been for me. When I was a sophomore, I got my first college job at Staci's Deli. I will never forget the look on my boss's face when she realized that I didn't know how to mop a floor, her jaw dropped past what was socially acceptable after I asked her if I was supposed to put the vinegar in the yellow bucket. That's right. I'm the reverse Cinderella.
We "mopped" for the first time this week by spraying 409 on the tile and mopping it up. I know, I know, "They make special soap for that" as Preston said, but it got the job done. And this means that I am making progress on goal 12: Be less lazy, more appreciative blah, blah, blah. Go me! and go Preston! Let's just hope we can keep this up.
