It's Official...

I hate quilting. But you all probably already guessed that.

I tried to like it, I did. I was intent to make a T-shirt quilt from my old college sorority shirts. I took a class and everything.  But there is one thing that I never, ever count on.

That's homework. I hate homework. With everything inside me.

I tried, I really did. I set out to make a quilt, like the other girl in the class (who is in her early 20s, just married and still in college, AND obsessed with the quilting supplies her new mother in law gave her. I think she is missing the piece of her brain that helps with, well, thinking in general). But I quickly went from a full size quilt to a table runner, and now, I don't even want to do that.

Everything is so much more appealing than homework. Homework, or vacation? Homework, or date night with Husband? Homework, or bike ride? Homework, or get attacked by flying dolphins with laser beams attached to their heads (circle R Orbit gum commercial)? Homework, or I could pick my nose for a few hours, maybe spend some quality time flossing and plucking my eyebrows. Basically, anything else is going to win over something unfortunate enough to be labelled as homework in my mind.

So the quilting supplies are going to join all the other hobbies of a misfitting nature (tae kwon do, horse back riding, twitter/stumbleupon/tumbler account, etc) in the garage closet. For now anyway. Or at least until it doesn't feel like homework.

Quilting, I wash my hands of you! And that's that.

It's okay. Quilting is cool, but only for people over the age of 50. Bike now, quilt later!

This was one of your funniest posts yet. I'm the exact same way about hobbies. For some reason I just get disinterested. Oh well! Maybe one day it won't feel like a chore. Until then, go ride your bike!
