Wednesday morning sunrise.
Moncong!
Preston and I stopped at the fish market on our way back from Hanalei. It is just a little counter in the back of a shopping center. We bought a fish called Moncong, which we had never heard of before. I was intrigued by the description, which was “mild, sweet and fluffy.” We also bought some scallops and seasoned them with a spicy “Aloha rub.” Preston was in charge of grilling the fish while I pan seared the scallops and a yam/eggplant medley. My mom helped chop vegetables for the salad and mango salsa while giving me cooking tips over her shoulder. I think she was scared that I wa

Kayaking Hanalei River
We spent Tuesday morning kayaking a river that runs along the side of the main road into a wildlife refuge.
First we paddled inland, toward the one car bridge that is the turn around point. We almost made it, but turned around a bit early.
That is when we discovered how much easier it is to kayak downstream!
This river let out into Hanalei Bay, so we stopped there for a rest before heading in. All in all, a three hour tour.
We then grabbed lunch in town and headed back to the house for a nice long nap in the shade.
