While I get to know my camera

I've got some great pictures from the Lake Austin Spa. But I'm having a little trouble getting to know this new camera of mine. Every time I think I've figured it out, I hit another road block. There is so much that goes along with these fancy pants cameras. So here is at least one picture that I like. I think I'll have it all figured out by the weekend. :)

We're spa-ing this weekend. It was needed. Pictures this time!

Lockerless

A few weeks ago, I got an email from the facilities graduate assistant at the college recreation center where I workout (yeah, I workout) informing me that I needed to remove the personal lock on my locker and use the lock provided by them.

This is a problem for me. My lock is awesome. It's a letter combination rather than a number combination, and I can change it at any time. My combinations usually spell a word, like hate, loft, pres or kate. I think all locks should be like this. Why remember a random number combination when it is so much easier to remember a word?

And then here is this little guy, forcing me to be just like everyone else and their unnecessary number combinations. I refused. Well, really I told him that I had been using the same lock for five years and no one has ever said it was a problem before, so I'd like to continue to use it.

So he called me at home and left a five minute message on my answering machine, which mostly consisted of the word UM, explaining why I was required to give up my lock. They must think I'm keeping bombs in my locker or something. I mean, my gym socks don't smell that bad (har har har!).

I read up on their website and realized that I can use my word lock on a day locker, so I cancelled my locker rental. In yo face, stupid gym facilities graduate assistant that hates words. You lose!

In related news, I'm in the market for a gym bag that will fit easily inside a locker, but still hold a change of clothes and "get ready" gear. I'm thinking the REI Balance Gym Bag will do the trick.

I'll leave you with this image I found on Pinterest, which portrays a similar feeling. Have a great day!

A Confession.

source

I had a babysitter. Her name was Beth. We watched The Princess Bride over and over again in her living room. Or I did. One day, I told her I was hungry, so she went to the kitchen to make me a snack. I snuck into her room, found her peaches and cream barbie dress and hid it in my pocket. I kept it for several weeks. One day, Beth came over and asked if I had taken the dress. I said no. The next time I went to Beth's house, I hid the dress in her room.

It was a really beautiful dress.

In the meantime

I'm redecorating our guest room. It's almost finished, I'm just waiting for bedding to be delivered before I show you my masterpiece. I also decided to do some kind of collage type thingie above the headboard, with plates and paintings, but I don't have plates or paintings, so for now, it will just be a blank space for imagining.

In the meantime, I've become a little obsessed with Halloween decorations. I know, I see the random change in topics too. Husband give's me a hard time about it. Regardless, I'm on Halloween and there's nothing we can do to change that.

I found these luminaries from "Crafts by Amanda" on Pinterest (which is awesome).

Rather than go buy a bunch of mason jars, I think it will work with pasta sauce jars and wine bottles, which I can accumulate quickly. The only problem is I don't know how to get a light/candle inside a wine bottle. Hmm. maybe I could just put a candle stick in the wine bottles.

Project time.
