The Thinker. He looks like he is doing something other than thinking.
Our Versailles tour was postponed until Day 4, so we had an impromptu day of museum touring. I find that I fit in very well with the art crowd as I did once have a piece of art on display at the mall when I was in the third grade. We hit the d”Orsay, the Rodin and the Montmarten. My favorites in the museums are Van Goah (all of them, really) and Redon (pastels) at the d’Orsay and “The Wobbly Houses” at l’Orangerie. “The Wobbly Houses” are called something much more intellectual and painted by someone very appreciated, but in the spirit of tacky American nicknames for fancy French things, I choose to call them “the Wobbly Houses” rather than google them to find the actual artist and painting names at this particular moment.
We thought this picture looked like Pres, Matt and John, all watching some kind of ball game on Preston's iPad and the iPad was on the ground.
We lunched at the Rodin, which was mom’s favorite museum of the day. It was nice and sunny out, and this museum is mostly outside, so it was like strolling through a garden with statues, similar to the sculpture gardens in D.C. and Houston… except with significantly different pieces of art.
We then tried to go to a Picasso museum, but when we got there, we found that it was closed until 2012. So we walked around the area and stumbled upon the home of Victor Hugo, which is a free museum.
The previous night, I ordered a cup of coffee after dinner. It was very good, but it was also very strong. I had a hard time getting up this morning and so was thankful when we stopped back by the room for a nap before heading to Montmarte for sunset and dinner.
We decided to go back there at some point and purchase some paintings and pose for a sidewalk artist, as I also fit in well with the modeling crowd, thanks to all of those Paige Parks modeling classes.
- Looks so lovely! Jealous! - the only thing on this page that I got to do was Musee d'Orsay.
- Your right , this was my favorite day. I loved the Rodin Museum. I can't believe that the guide books do not expound on how wonderful this museum is. I am glad they do not because it would probably make it more crowded. You captured the day in your photos and your blog. Love you, Mom
