Scarf Hoarding - I'm realizing its a problem.

Living in East Texas, there are not a lot of opportunities to wear scarves. Mainly, because its ALWAYS hot. And when it's not hot, it's only slightly cool, and most people aren't wearing scarves, so if you wear one, you become "that girl", the one who is wearing winter clothes when everyone else is still wearing shorts.

Even though I know this, I can't help myself. I love scarves. I fall in love with scarves on the rack, I twist them around my fingers and dress them around my neck and pose in the store mirror and I just KNOW this is the scarf I need.

I do this so often that I don't allow myself to buy scarves anymore. Unless, of course, there is a special circumstance. Like when I was in Paris and found a million awesome scarves at low prices and so had to buy all of them because when is that going to happen again?? And aren't scarves a Paris THING?

They are.

Even when I try to purge scarves from my collection, I struggle. Each one has a memory associated with it, a distinct reason why I should keep it forever and never throw it away. I bought it in Paris. My mom gave it to me and I have matching gloves. My mother in law bought it for me in Turkey.

I feel like one day, Preston's grandmother is going to ask me about that scarf she gave me with my initial on it five years ago and why I haven't worn it - when in reality, she probably doesn't remember giving it to me. (I actually threw this one out, and yet, I'm still thinking about it.)

It's possible that I do this same thing with earrings and necklaces and bracelets because, well, someday, the perfect outfit will come along for each piece of jewelry and I will be glad I kept it all these years.

So it is actually accessory hoarding, not just scarves.

This week, I'm challenging myself to purge five pieces of jewelry and to wear an outfit with a scarf twice.

Do y'all hoard jewelry too? Am I the only one!!?? Please say I'm not!

I felt the same way about scarves when I lived in Louisiana. Now, in Maryland, I have many more opportunities to wear scarves without being "the scarf girl." I love it!
